Constructing his photographs through gesture and the environment, Ricardo Maio harmoniously integrates elements such as the body and the landscape, light and mud, stones and skin. Figure and background intertwine and blend, forming images that gift us with a sense of estrangement and beauty, discovery and visual pleasure. Volcanoes, deserts, abandoned quarries, roads, trees, throughout the Iberian Peninsula and the Canary Islands, are part of this visceral essay on body and land.
